The northern lights forming a beautiful corona overhead and this was by far the strongest aurora of the night. Skjervøy with its mountain and long beaches is a remarkable place to photograph and this is one of my absolute favourite places to go to. Image captured in Skjervøy, Troms, Northern Norway.
Image shortlisted for Astronomy photographer of the year 2014. Captured in Steinsvik, Troms, Northern Norway during a strong aurora flare that lasted only a few minutes. The figure on the right side is my brother searching for his lost lenscap. He did throw a few cursewords after he missed out on capturing most of this flare, but in the end it provided quite the laugh.
Peaceful is the best term I can use for this lake, especially when it is no wind and such clear reflections, you just get lost in the moment. Sitting there waiting and eating a chicken sandwich while an Owl almost landed on a tree 2 meters away was a fantastic experience, then when the aurora started to light up the sky the evening was complete. I was in fact about ready to leave when it started and what I thought would only be a few hours quickly turned into many more. Image captured at Sikkájávri lake in Nordreisa, Troms, Northern Norway.
